Trust participants visit the sensory room as the Bees take on Wolves

 In News

On Saturday 22nd January, a group of participants from our disability programme attended the BFC v Wolves match in the new sensory room, at the Brentford Community Stadium.

The sensory room is located at the top of the south stand, offers a full view of the pitch with special glass to protect against the noise. It allows Trust participants and families that might not otherwise be able to come to watch The Bees,

Our group of participants that made the trip to Brentford FC Community Stadium all attend sessions from our “On the Ball” disability programme, which supports young people with social and communication difficulties, through parent workshops and regular sports sessions. The “On the Ball” programme was designed by Action-attainment CIC and delivered by us through parent workshops and regular sports sessions that teach various inclusion skills.

One of our participants’ parents said: “Our experience using the sensory room was fantastic. It was wonderful for Ollie to experience watching the match in an environment that was calming with the facility to be able to walk around for a movement break as well as easy access to toilets. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met and were so friendly towards the children and families. We would love to have the opportunity to watch a match there again – a place where everyone can enjoy the game with no stress or worry.”

Chris Tribe our disability projects manager said: “It was a real privilege to be able to invite a group of participants from our “On the Ball” programme to the new sensory room at the new Stadium. It’s a fantastic facility for people with sensory difficulties, as it provides them with a safe environment to watch the match, whilst still being able to get a flavour of the atmosphere within the stadium. The young people and their parents really enjoyed the experience and kept asking me when they would be able to come again!”

Brentford FC and Brentford FC Community Sports Trust both actively promote Diversity, Equality and Inclusion in our behaviour, practices and values. To find out more about our disability programme please email ctribe@brentfordfccst.com
