The project – dubbed UBactive – will inspire hundreds of young people across the borough.
Brentford FC Community Sports Trust recently launched a free youth project for young residents in Hillingdon. The project, supported by Hillingdon Community Trust and funded by Heathrow, will offer young people the opportunity to play and enjoy sport in a safe environment.

The project will deliver sports coaching sessions at three venues in the borough:

  • Goals Heathrow.
  • Botwell Green Sports and Leisure Centre.
  • West Drayton Young People’s Centre.

The project will also offer volunteering and training opportunities to young people –helping them develop important life skills and enabling them to realise their potential.

15-year-old Rolly, who attended the first session at Goals Heathrow, said:

“I’ve been given the opportunity to volunteer at the sports coaching sessions on a Monday evening. I enjoy volunteering as it helps me gain skills and experience I could use in the future.”

Luke Skelhorn, Operations Director at Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, said:

“We’re delighted that the support of Hillingdon Community Trust has enabled us to extend our reach into Hillingdon – providing new opportunities for young people in the borough. We have been delivering a wide variety of projects in community settings across Hounslow, Ealing and Richmond for many years.

“This new project helps us to develop our presence in communities across Hillingdon, as we continue to offer new and innovative projects that support the aspirations of young people.”

Brentford FC Community Sports Trust already delivers a multitude of community projects in five London boroughs – supporting young people through weekly football, sport and personal development sessions. This year alone, the Trust has engaged with a staggering 1,500 young people across west London.

Graham Goodden, Communities Engagement Manager at the Trust, said:

“We’re passionate about young people enjoying sport and becoming active. Launching UBactive will give us the opportunity to expand our grassroots community programme, which will support hundreds of young people in Hillingdon.”
