Brentford Players Quizzed by Excited Primary School Children

 In News

More than 150 school children met Brentford players Chris Mepham and Josh McEachran at Green Dragon Primary School last week. The event, which saw dozens of pupils quiz the players on their lives as footballers, was part of a wider initiative that encourages primary schools, junior clubs and community groups to attend Brentford’s community matches.

Brentford midfielder, Josh McEachran, spoke of the importance of inspiring local pupils:

“When we walked in to the room everyone was so excited to ask us questions. We were really happy to be there.”

Adam, who is a pupil in the yr6 class, asked the players about the best and worst aspects of being a footballer, Chris Mepham replied:

“The best thing is playing in front of thousands of fans every week, and the most difficult things are when you’re injured and you have to stay motivated.”

Green Dragon Primary School, which is situated minutes away from Griffin Park, sold more than 40 tickets for the Primary Schools Day fixture last November. The next community matchday is the Brentford v Sheffield United clash on Friday 30 March.

Charlie Bains, the P.E Lead at the primary school, said:

“The event was absolutely amazing and the kids loved every second.

“I really hope we win again and sell the most tickets!”

Brentford FC Community Sports Trust is offering discounted tickets for primary schools across west London.

The community ticket offer includes:

A free goody bag for every junior ticket.
Discounts on group bookings – with one free adult ticket for every 10 junior tickets bought.
A visit from two First-Team players for the top two schools that sell the most tickets.
Adult tickets cost only £10 while junior tickets cost £3.
