Sergi Canos wins Community Player of the Year at Brentford’s Player of the Year Dinner

Along with winning the PFA’s Community Champion award, Brentford player Sergi Canos was also crowned ‘Community Player of the Year’ at Brentford’s Player of the Year Dinner on Sunday.

Sergi, who has been recognised for a range of community accolades, was presented with his award by the CEO of Brentford FC Community Sports Trust Lee Doyle.

Along with teaching Spanish at a local secondary school, Sergi had been recognised for advocating the importance of mental health and healthy eating initiatives amongst children.

Speaking about his involvement in the local community, he said:

“I am delighted to win the PFA’s Community Champion of the Year Award and Community Player of the Year Award. As a professional footballer, I want to use my platform to support community causes I feel most passionate about – whether that be promoting healthy eating and exercise with young people or tackling the stigma around mental health.”

A view that has been endorsed by Ruth Cadbury, MP for Brentford and Isleworth, she said:

“Sergi has gone above and beyond this season – encouraging and supporting youngsters to get involved with sport. He is a great ambassador for Brentford FC.”

Ruth Cadbury MP presented Sergi Canos with his PFA Community Champion award along with Rupa Huq – MP for Ealing and Acton.
