Dean Smith Will Join Brentford Players for EFL Community Day of Action
To mark the EFL Community Day of Action, Brentford’s Head Coach, Dean Smith, will showcase the community work of Brentford FC Community Sports Trust on Tuesday 20 March.
Dean Smith will join goalkeeper Dan Bentley and midfielder Nico Yennaris at the Short Breaks project, which provides much-needed respite to children with disabilities. Brentford players Sergi Canos and Emiliano Marcondes will take part in a grassroots community coaching session at Acton Park in Ealing and a selection of B-Team players will take part in the Trust’s education project at Griffin Park Learning Zone.
From Plymouth to Peterborough and Sunderland to Southend, on Tuesday 20 March EFL Clubs across all three divisions will showcase the innovative and ground-breaking work they do for young people in tackling some of the biggest issues in society across education, health, community engagement and participation.
Commenting on the importance of the day, Dean Smith said:
“Our Community Sports Trust is a big part of what we are and who we are at Brentford FC. Our ties with the community are through the Trust and in my experience, it is one of the best that’s out there and touching parts you wouldn’t normally get to.
“The EFL Community Day of Action is a chance to show this off. I am proud to be part of the day and I am pleased that so many of our players will be out in the community getting involved.”
The EFL Community Day of Action, which brings together all 72 EFL clubs, has been earmarked to raise awareness of football clubs’ involvement in local communities. With more than 1 million people now participating in football-led community programmes, the Day of Action highlights the positive impact football can have in changing young people’s lives.
