Marley Tavaziva joins Brentford’s B team as a full-time scholar

Marley has been a part of our post-16 Football & Education programme and has trained with Neil MacFarlane’s side in recent weeks at Jersey Road, and he also gained good experience as he joined the side in South Wales for their pre-season training camp.

Brentford B and the Community Sports Trust have had a positive relationship in recent seasons with players often given the opportunity to step into the setup at Jersey Road to train with the young Bees. Brentford goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe was enrolled on our course when he was 16 whilst former B Team defender David Titov also benefited from programmes run by the Trust.

Marley has also been a part of Brentford’s new Under-18 setup and he’ll now work regularly with B Team Goalkeeping Coach Jani Viander and the other keepers within the squad, Ben Winterbottom and Roco Rees.

Brentford B Head Coach Neil MacFarlane is pleased to add another goalkeeper to his ranks. He said: “As we have seen with Tony (Yogane) and Isaac (Holland) we’re now adding some younger players to our group with some good potential.

“Marley has been training with us recently and has done particularly well. He will also have the opportunity to play a large number of minutes with our Under-18 side as well, so we’re excited to see him develop.”

Ryan Peters, Senior Manager and Head Coach of the post-16 programme is delighted to see a player from his group link up with the B Team after his progression working under the staff at the Community Sports Trust. He said: “This is a fantastic moment for Marley and his family. As a product of the post-16 programme, he has been exemplary in everything he has done. He has pushed the boundaries and always encouraged those players around him. This is an example of the strength of the partnership we have with the B Team and hopefully, Marley inspires others to pursue their passions with dedication and humility.”
